blackgirlwrites asked: Hello! I was really inspired by the tapered cut look w/ relaxed hair so I decided to cut off most of my hair this summer. Recently, however, I decided I wanted to transition to natural. Problem is, now I have the long, relaxed hair on top, natural roots & short natural hair on the sides. I don't feel as confident when I go out because it's not uniform. I thought about just doing the BC but the natural growth is about an inch. What are some other styling options? Thanks!

Hey! Now I’m unsure of exactly where you live but since it’s getting colder it can be a little bit difficult to maintain your BC, especially since a lot of girls usually live by wash & goes when you have a TWA. So my suggestion to get you through the Winter would be one of two things: Try a Keratin treatment such as nuNAAT’s Ultra Keratin Touch Kit. You can basically have the ‘relaxed’ look without having to apply harsh chemicals to your hair. The thing I love most about their product is that it keeps your hair straight for 30 consecutive days no matter how much you wash it or sweat it. So that’s always one of my first suggestions for ladies transitioning. For more information on their kit, check out: http://www.ultrakeratintouch.com/

Another suggestion which I do is rocking a Protective Style such as Havana Twists or braids during the Winter. This allows your hair to stay protected from the harsh weather conditions and not to mention grow.

When the Spring comes around you’ll have even more hair to BC and then you can experience the greatness of a wash & go with short hair. Quick and easy!
